Image: Trelleborg Today, Trelleborg officially inaugurates its newly constructed facility in Macaé, Brazil. The facility will develop, manufacture and supply high-performance polymer and syntactic foam-based solutions for the offshore industry, such as various buoyancy products. It will also feature the world’s largest hydrostatic pressure testing vessel for products used in deep-sea environments. “Brazil has quickly become a highly attractive country for us with such growing markets as offshore oil & gas, infrastructure, agriculture, mining and the graphics industry. As a result, we have made a Group decision to increase our presence and customer support in the region. We will come closer to the epicenter of events in selected segments, and closer to our existing and potential new customers. Both our production and technical support located in the country will expand,” says Peter Nilsson, President and CEO of Trelleborg. “Following the major oil and gas discoveries that have been made off the coast of Brazil in recent years, it is a logical step to increase our presence and customer support in this key region. The Brazilian market is attractive for its significant long-term growth opportunities for our offshore business and because this facility further reinforces our strong global platform. The new facility demonstrates our strong dedication to manufacturing within Brazil,” says Fredrik Meuller, President of Trelleborg Offshore and Construction, which is part of Trelleborg Engineered Systems business area. The inauguration on September 13 will be attended by guests from all over the world, including local and regional government officials and customers, as well as management and personnel from Trelleborg.
