Horizon Launches New Online Mapping Portal

Horizon Marine offers a new online, interactive mapping service for its EddyWatch subscribers. Describing the new data portal, Horizon’s President Patrice Coholan said, “The MetOcean Mapper interface is now more intuitive with a ‘Googlish’ look and feel to assist our clients with their situational awareness.” Proprietary data and analysis are available as layers for users to create custom charts to share with project teams and display information that is most pertinent to their operations. Weather data from Horizon’s alliance partner ImpactWeather are also available to place offshore assets in context with each other and potentially threatening metocean conditions such as hurricanes and the Loop Current.
The MetOcean Mapper has been used by RouteWatch clients for the past 6 months and has proven to be reliable, easy to use, and global. Horizon Marine’s Operations Manager George Owen added, “In addition to the EddyWatch data layers, the Mapper was designed to incorporate positional data from our proprietary GPS beacons, offering shore-based personnel the opportunity to more efficiently manage rig moves and coordinate vessel operations between the beach and offshore assets.” The new MetOcean Mapper will act as a portal to the data EddyWatch analysts utilize on a daily basis and offer a 24/7 supplement to the semi-weekly reports issued to clients via email.
